Social ads beat search for about the same money

Facebook drove more than twice the visits of search for a similar spend.

Facebook ads + page promotion

189 clicks · ~$61

Search (Google Ads + organic)

80 visits · ~$62

Email newsletters

9 visits · $0

Search visits include organic traffic, so paid search performed no better than this. Spend: Facebook $61.01, Google Ads $61.94, hosting $25 (excluded) = $147.95 total.

The machine

A full funnel, measured end to end

• A 5+ page WordPress site with 6 original posts, each optimized for search with Yoast

• 6 target keywords chosen with Google Keyword Planner

• 3+ search ads pointing to different landing posts

• A Facebook page with 26 posts, shared to 3 relevant groups and boosted

• A Mailchimp list with signup forms and 6 newsletters

• Google Analytics connected to every channel

Reflection

What I’d test next

Measure what happens after the click

We tracked visits, not reading time or sign-ups per channel. Cheap clicks only matter if those visitors stay.

Fix email before scaling it

27 subscribers produced 9 visits. A stronger reason to subscribe would come before sending more newsletters.
